Our mission is to transform the lives of at-risk pregnant women, so they will deliver healthy babies, embrace positive parenting, and establish safe homes and secure futures.
KRISTA LINDEN Step By Step Founder & Executive Director

A Message From Krista:

Twenty years ago, I chose to name this organization Step By Step, because my team and I recognized that big goals and ambitions never happen overnight. Whether it is choosing health, raising a family, or the fulfillment of a dream, success takes hard work, positive support, and the courage to keep taking the next step.

My dream to buy a farm certainly didn’t happen overnight. It was a desire that grew from values instilled in me as a child, great people speaking into my life, and many individuals who have supported and encouraged my ongoing desire and commitment to invest in strong mothers, babies, and families.

It has also taken a lot of courage and a lot of steps.

Initial conversations for this project began over six years ago, when we identified a need to better support the women we serve, in their efforts to obtain gainful employment.

Over the past twenty years, we have walked alongside and supported women who are working to recover from serious barriers to health and success. Our primary goals have been to help them have a healthy pregnancy, embrace positive parenting, and establish a safe home.

Now, we are poised to take that one step further.

This farm, which has already served the community for five generations, is now beginning a new legacy, as a center that brings hope and health to mothers and families. It is going to allow us to take the relationships we have already established with mothers and help them take their next step towards a more secure future, both for themselves and for their children.

But, my dream for this future center goes beyond just teaching basic employment skills. I want to build strong families. We are committed to helping the women we serve to not only become skilled, reliable, and successful professionals, but also to realize their value as mothers, to recognize their unique strengths, and to see hope for their future. We are going to help them dream, and then we are going to help them put those dreams to work.

Progress, of the best kind, is comparatively slow. Great results cannot be achieved at once; and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk, step by step.
